I'm Tobias Martin. I make Spanish-language content about artificial intelligence and AI safety, I run the Hispanic AI Safety Initiative, and I work in AI safety communications at the Machine Intelligence Research Institute.
My background is in cognitive science and learning design. I did my undergraduate degree at Minerva University and a master's in education at Harvard University. Before this, I worked in education policy, thinking about how large systems shape what people end up understanding.
That is exactly the problem I see with AI today. It isn't that the information doesn't exist. It's locked inside English and a small set of professional circles. My work is to open it up without watering it down.
I was a fellow in the MARS program at the Cambridge AI Safety Hub, and I received a grant from the Future of Life Institute to produce a Spanish-language video series. I live and work from Argentina.
